I just finished drafting the plans for my new stand and canopy, and I am wondering if I can use pressure treated wood. I have a ton in my shed that I could use, is it safe?

There is a chance that the arsenic, etc. used to treat the wood could leach out of wet wood and somehow get into your tank. Not sure how it would really happen, but I've heard that warning before. If you're planning on painting the stand, I say go for it.

yes you can, I wouldnt for the canopy as pressure treated wood used to carry arsenics but for a stand I wouldnt use any other wood.

Thanks for the replies all. I think I'll just use regular wood all around. I was going to just do the stand after reading, but then I figured the same danger of using it for a canopy would exist as a stand. I plan to house my sump/refugium under it and don't want to risk the contamination. Thanks for helping me think it out.:D
