Questions about building nano aquarium.

Hi everyone. I am going to attempt to build a nano aquarium from plexiglass, and I have a few questions. I want it to be 10" x 8" x 8" which will make it hold about 2.8 gallons. With it being this small, could I get away with 1/8" plexiglass or would it have to be 1/4"? Also, what would the dimensions of each side have to be with each size (1/8" or 1/4")? Finally, can I just use silicone to put it together or do I need solvent cement?
