I don't know of any articles, but a rimless tank really isn't all that different from a rimmed tank. You should use thicker glass, but it's assembled the same way. Silicone is pretty tough stuff when it's applied properly. I have a 10' x 2' x 2' frameless tank in storage that I had to cut apart. It's 1" glass that was held together with only silicone. I cut all but six inches of silicone off one of the long sides of the tank and that small strip of silicone held up the 400lb-500lb slab of glass.
