I need to build a stand for a 20 gallon high (because I don't feel like spending $80+ on one). I've done a lot of net searching, but all the sites I find are for making huge stands.
Anybody have any advice for building a small stand?

At one LFS, they sell a stand made of 1x2 that looks to be just a couple rectangular frames and eight legs. It looks something like this (please excuse my horrible mspaint drawing):

This seems to be the simplest design (v. similar to design A here: http://www.aquariacentral.com/diy/stand.shtml). Think that would work? Or maybe I should use 2x4? If I went with 2x4 could I go with 4 legs instead of 8? Or is this just a bad design? Any other ideas?

If you look under 40 Gal. Stand in the DIY forum, you will see one that I built, it can be sized down to anything you want. If anything you might get some ideas with the pictures.
If you do make the stand that you have a drawing of I would stick with the 8 2X2's and not 4 2X4's, the stand might be weak with the 2X4's.

Here are some pics of the stand. Added a access door to the front for storage.
