I have an old 30 gallon tank that I would like to turn into a vertical tank. It is 1/4 inch glass, 36x16x12 approximately. If I add a 1/2 inch pane to the opening, would I still need to brace it or is my idea even a possibility?
The other glass sides would still need to be thicker to handle the pressure of a tank that tall. You'd be better off starting from scratch (IMO) than trying to change that tank into something it wasn't built for.
