Undergravel jet question

I was wondering what way is better to keep my gravel low maintence.( Yes trying to be lazy here lol) Should I bend the ends of pvc or should I drill the pvc like a spray bar except in different directions? If you need pics to understand, I can get them just ask.

well I am running a spray bar faceing up to the water covered with a layer of bio rings and sand over on top... but this still have to vaccum substrate...

(maybe over pebbles alone it might be better? didn't try that yet)
