There are many lfs in the St. Louis area. My favorite would probably Beldt's Aquarium located in Hazelwood or Pet Market Place off of Watson Road. They both are very knowlegable and reasonable. I would also try Tropical World Pets which is really close by Pet Market Place. If you are looking for saltwater try Clayton Pet Emporium or Beldt's Aquarium. Pet Market Place also has a good selection of saltwater fish.

Tropical World Pets and Pet Marketplace on Watson are two great LFS. They happen to be less than 5 mins from each other.

I also really like Aqua World on Gravios (near Grand). They have awesome freshwater planted tanks. Their prices for fish and plants are very reasonable, but I noticed their equipment prices are pretty high.

There's also Beldt's Aquarium and Marine Solutions for saltwater stuff.

I noticed Pet Market Place and Beldt's Aquarium offer supplies such as filters cheaper than Petsmart or Petco.

I checked out Pet Market Place last night and boy was I impressed! The large selection of fish, knowledgable staff, range of products. If I had known that this store even existed I would have bought all my supplies from them. It is a 3 hour drive but it was well worth it. I also checked out the Tropical Word Pets off of Watson and wasn't too happy with it. Their prices on Pleco's were outragous. Not to mention their Cichlids were more expensive and less attractive than those at Pet Market Place. The staff consisted of 4 teenage boys who were of no help and acted peeved that I asked a question. Pet Market Place is the way to go. Does anyone know of a store that has a large selection of African Cichlids?

There is actually a store called Malawi Cichlids? OMG I would be in HEAVON! Pet Market Place is at Laclede Station Road and Watson. I believe the address is 8110 Watson Road. It's in a shopping complex but is the main store. You can see if from Laclede Station Road. They are open until 9 PM. They are having a sale on Sunday, 20% off all fish. Then on April 16th, 20 or 25% off the entire store for their 25th Anniversary.

I searched online and found the number. This weekend we are headed back to STL to look at some of the other fish stores and we will defiantely check that one out. Which stores have you been to that weren't as good? I don't want to waste my time driving all over the place and jsut be disapointed and lose time that could have been spent elsewhere. Or, Which stores would you highly reccommend? I am coming from Carbondale Illinois so this is quite a drive for me.

I am going by Aquatico this weekend along with a friend of mine. Is it all equipment or can I also get fish and plants from Don? And do you know what time he opens on Saturday?

There is a place just off Lemay Ferry Road and Linberg (sp) in the KMart shopping plaza. We went to it and they don't have many fish in stock. Basically the guy crammed tens of fish in each little 10 gal tank. And when I say 10's of fish, I mean there were at least 10 to 15 Medium size SA Cichlids in a little bitty 10 gal tank full of driftwood and plants. I felt so sorry for them. I can't remember the name of the place. Apparently he is in the process of moving to a different location but the place he is at now, the products are expired and the fish look sooo stressed.

Some plants including parva and ask him about his other rare planted tank stuff.
Look in the tub up front and the small tanks.
I may see you there as i usually hang out there on the weekend. What is your name?

I'm still a huge fan of:
Aqua-World
Address: 3910 Gravois Ave, St Louis, MO 63116
Phone: (314) 772-0100

They also have a shop on Manchester near Clarkson but it's not as nice as the Gravios store.

I have bought the majority of my fish from them...6 glowlight tetras and 15 cardinal tetras. I have not lost a single fish in nearly a month.

They also have tons of great plants and other fish.
