Anybody know Dr. Mac? Pacific East Aquaculture/Maryland

I keep hearing great things about this place and the live rock offerings. Thinking of driving up for my friends new 72g setup and handpicking come fully cured LR.

Anybody know of this place?

i love dr. mac. I get almost all my corals from there and have even gotten some of thier tank bred sea horses. They all do really well and their customer service is second to none!

Not sure when I'd be going. Depends on the guy who bought my 72g and whether he prefers to go with the cured rock - which I hope Dr Mac has. Wonder what those prices are for the handpicked, cured, colorful stuff?

I hear the rock is full of life, so I'm thinking my buddy would add cured rock to that which he is currently curing in his 29g and bypass cycling the 72g for the instant cycle.

Well if he doesn't want to go that route, maybe it'll be just me and you. I'm still game just to see this place I hear SOOOOO much about and their outstanding customer service.

You still got a new tank to stock. This may be the route.

I'm calling after 11 when they open to get more info. Will update.

I wanna go tomorrow

Might be just me and you Ziggy! The distance doesn't bother you?

So far, I may be targeting Saturday, April 14, 21, or 28.

Yeah, Richmond on the 28th. I may still be up for the place in MD, on one of the earlier dates.

That's about a 2.5 to 3 hour haul for me, but I've always wanted to go to Dr. Mac's too. 20 frags for $99? That sounds amazing. So you guys are going on the 21st?

And yeah, we are still going to Richmond on the 28th. So far I guess me, ziggy, scott, and neilan are going if I remeber correctly, and Mike is cooking dinner on the bbq. haha. I might have to skip Dr. Macs and save my $$$ for Richmond. If you guys go, take lots of pics!

I'll be calling them ahead of time - probably within the week of the 21st. Everyone has down times, i'm sure. I heard from someone that heard from someone that they were disappointed when they went to Dr Mac. Had only a bunch of gorgonias at the time.

The 28th is definitely out for me. Christmas in April day.

Looking like the 21st for me - of course calling ahead on that previous Thursday.

I don't think so. I think it tells you that on the website that you can only order the handpicked from Maryland.

They currently have200 lbs of cured Fiji and 150 lbs of cured Tonga rock. $4.29 & $5.99 respectively. Also have coralline encrusted rock (forgot to ask what kind) at $8 or $9 per lb.

'Course if I go Saturday, I'd call close to closing on Friday to see what's still there. this all depends on whether my buddy with the new 72g tank set up is gonna be available. All this shopping is for him.

Hmmm, I seem to recall you stating, "I might as well buy something, since I came all this way".
