BulkReefSupply (BRS) Security Breach
Not sure where this fits best, but I think it's important for folks in the community. BRS recently suffered a security breach. More info can be found here:

Thanks for the heads up - Good to know. I ordered from them about a week after it occurred and had no idea.

So everyone is aware, today I got a mailer in the mail regarding this security breach. This would be their more personal follow up in terms of those who would have used their service during this period rather than the website posting informing all members of the breach most likely.

If you got a letter, your info was stolen, according to the web site. Best to cancel any and all cards you have used with them.

Had 2 of my credit cards stolen from this breach... No bueno. Good thing is, is at least I know where the theft originated from. Was fully reimbursed from card companies thankfully. Fraud detection divisions are no joke these days...

I got it too, but already knew I was compromised. That being said, just placed a $400 order with them.

It isn't really something to get too overly worked up about. They are offering monitoring to go along with it. For me, this isn't a huge deal as I was part of that huge compromise however long ago and already have monitoring on my whole life in general. Use the credit card, I won't pay for it cuz I'll know about it.

Yeah this is unfortunately just a part of reality now. There are dozens and dozens of compromises every week. Companies are not obligated or compelled to even tell you about it.

Sad but true. Just a month ago, the attack on Anthem (largest for profit managed health care system) breached 80 million patient records.
