Thumbs down Drs. Foster and Smith

The FedEx SMARTPOST shipping is CRAP. 11 days to get product! They split my order even though it shipped the same day. Shipped half str8 FedEx and the other half through that SMARTPOST (combination of FedEx with a hand off to the good ole US Post Office). The str8 FedEx = 3 days on my door. SMARTPOST = 11 days (so they say).

Order 9/2 : FedEx = 8:30am 9/5 SMARTPOST = anticipated delivery 9/12

and the FedEx package was the bigger and heavier of the 2.

I'm not sure if you can select different shipping without paying a premium but, for me, if not I'll be shopping elsewhere.

I ordered it all cause I wanted it all, AT THE SAME TIME.

Is this something new F&S is doing? I haven't ordered from them in a while, but it's never taken me more than 3 days to get all my stuff from them, even when the split my order (like when I order Salt, the split out the salt shipment everytime)

Dunno.. called cause I thought they screwed the order up and they explained it to me.

Your order (XXXXXXXXX-X) has left our shipping facility and will be delivered via FEDEX SMART POST.

Same thing happened to my order of some florescent lamps. They split my shipment, one came in 5 days, bad, and the bulb came in 3 days later broken. I called them and they said sorry and that they would send a replacement. It never came so I called them and they said that since it was for a replacement they can only give me credit. Okay I got credit for the light, but I was still out one light bulb. Will order elsewhere.

I was done with them about a month ago. Hate them, hate their costumer service, etc.. They sent me what was probably THEE worst rocks i've ever seen. Thumbs down for the Drs. They suck. Took them two weeks so send out my plumbing supplies as well. I bought two things.. a ball valve and a 10' tube...

Yeah, the Fedex smart post is a new shipping method and it takes like 8 days to get stuff. I've been unhappy with that since they started it. I think next time I need stuff, I'll order from somewhere else.

wow... I have been using Dr F&S for about a year now and have ordered about 10 times.... never had one single problem. -- They have split the orders but, no problem with it. Sucks to hear the bad service you all got.

Me neither, haven't had one problem yet. One thing I don't do is order anything I need quickly from them because it does take usually 4 to 7 days to NY.

Yes, on my first order from them I thought "hmm, FedEx smartpost looks cheap"... took it 9 days to get from Wisconsin to Ohio. I can DRIVE to Wisconsin in 9 hours... what they apparently do is have FedEx pick it up, route the package through USPS parcel post, and then FedEx delivers it again. Or something. It's a loser, for sure.

I'm glad I checked this thread out. I was about to get some equipment for my 55G but I think I'll go elsewhere now.
