DrsFosterSmith
What a great store.
I sent out a mail order to them last Monday.
On their web site the have a Live Help link where you can chat with a rep. right over the internet(COOL!) I just checked on my order and they received it today and shipping it in the AM.
So far so good.
I like this store.

I've heard a lot of good things about this store recently. When you get your order, let us know how you like it!

I have used them a ton in the past. They don't have hard to find items (i.e. Oceanic Salt, DT phyto, Cyclop-eeze) but carry just about everything else and their prices are much better than my LFS even with shipping added in.

Overall they are my favorite online dealer. good prices, maybe not the best, but usually close. Customer service CANNOT be beat, those folks know their stuff. Packaging, great, shipping, gets here on time. If something not in stock, they will tell you in an email ASAP. Also they are a USA company, and I like to spend my money at home. (No offense to anyone from outside the USA intended, it's just my preference).

I absolutely LOVE Drs. Foster & Smith! Have ordered from them online many times and am always very pleased with the results. Customer service is superb. And lucky me! I only live about a 40 minute drive from where they are located in Rhinelander, WI (I live in Merrill) so occasionally take a trip up North to browse they're retail outlet store. Infact I was just up there a little more than a week ago, for those of you who keep saltwater tanks, the SW fish they have in stock in the store are amazing. Some I have never seen before or even heard of, but they sure were beautiful and very interesting. Especially one I saw, I think it was called a Helmet Cowfish or something like that. Neat!

Some of their advice for reptiles and amphibian care is a little bit iffy on my terms, but their prices, service and everything else is great! One of my favourite online pet stores!

I've ordered from them before, and have had excellent results. I know the need to support our lfs, but not when they charge more than twice as much for the same product.

Are their retail prices in the store the same as online, or do they mark it up for retail? I'm about 3.5 hours from Rhinelander in Marquette, MI.

Hi Bearfan,
I live just about an hour from Rhinelander and have been to the retail outlet a few times. Yes, the prices seem to be comparable to the catalog from the things I have bought. Although it does seem that the selection in the catalog is better. Still a very nice store, lots of very unique fish available too if you have a salt water tank.

Send me a pm the beginning of next week and remind me.. I plan on talking with him Monday or Tuesday of next week..

Ordered 110 lbs of live rock (3 boxes), and took Friday afternoon off from work to receive it via FedEx. One (1) box failed to arrive, Drs. F&S claimed it was FedEx's fault. They agreed to reship, and gave me a $25 credit, but now I have to take another afternoon off to receive. Quality was poor, about 15 lbs was useless small crumbs about the size of a quarter. No life on it other than coralline algae.

I think they are a great site too. I do almost all of my online ordering from them. Returns are no problem -- they get your credit card credited back fast.

I ordered all of my aquarium gravel from them (100 lbs.). Even with the additional shipping, they were $5 a bag cheaper than my LFS. My LFS seems to have problems with stocking any other gravel other than pink, purple or purple and pink mixed and they never have the large quanities needed for bigger tanks. I think some LFS are shooting themsleves in the foot by not paying attention to getting repeat customers. If I stop by a couple times and can't find what I want, I end up ordering on the internet. Chances are I won't go back to the LFS for a lot of items I need.
