Has anyone ordered live plants from Aquatic Magic before? Little worried
I was wondering if anyone had ordered from here before? they have what seems to be reasonable rates, and a nice selection, but I was worried since they appear to be out of Malasia, anyone try them? what kind of condition did they arrive in? 6-7 days shipping, is that ok for live plants?
I have a low light tank, I was going to go with some flame moss, cryptocoryne wendtii tropica, weeping moss, anubias barteri petite, and cryptocoryne lingua all of which should go well in a low light enviroment according to their site.
Also is there any rules about bringing these into Canada? where could I go to make sure its not illegal?

I don't know how legal it is to bring plants into Canada with proper paperwork and permits. In USA there has to be proper permits on both ends for the buyer not to get into trouble.

Aquariumplants.com ships to Canada. I've only heard negative things about Aquatic Magic. I've ordered stuff like a glass diffuser from them, but never plants.

I've ordered a few plants from Aquatic Magic (2 orders; one of which is still pending). The shipping times do seem incredibly long, and that is almost reason enough NOT to use them in my mind. The only reason I reordered from them (some great variety of mosses this time) was that my first order came through with flying colors (though, again, seemingly LONG wait) and the variety of mosses on sale and the price tantalized me just enough... The plant quality the first time was just fine. We'll see if the order that is still in transit arrives in the same condition... If you're in a hurry, though, look elsewhere, for certain!

with them you mostly just want to order anubias ferns and moss. those 3 should be able to last a week or longer. in case of moss i left some in a bag with no light for a month and it was still fine.

Well they are in Malaysia, so that would account for the shipping times. I have ordered some moss for them but it is still in transit. They did specify that it would take about two weeks to arrive.

My first order from them arrived today, moss and a broadleaf on wood. It was in good condition, green and fully live. However the box was marked "soft toy" and I am not really comfortable with that.

because if it was marked live plants they would need the health certificate. also more likely to be inspected.

I guessed that was why. But if they need a certificate, they should get one. If plants are inspected, they are inspected. I am not interested in being complicit in evading laws and regulations. I won't be ording from there anymore.

i think its like $15 per package or something like that. then maybe more delays if it was inspected. when sent with out it and they find them the package gets tossed. they make their money by sending it as cheap as possible. they are able to buy from the growers and sell direct vs other places going from hand to hand before you get it. when doing it legal there is many fees and regulations you must follow.
not saying its right or wrong just stating what i know.
