I love craigslist!
Well, I was up real late lastnight just surfing online. Decided to check out craigslist. Under the pets section I found a 48" Odyssea 2x175w MH, 2-96w actinic, 6 1w blue moonlight fixture. So, I was like...haha ok this is a mess, lets see how much they want for it. Well, the MH bulbs and pc bulbs wont turn on, but the fans and moonlights work. So, I took it apart and the MH bulbs look fine, the PC bulbs and moonlights are fine along with the wiring, so I figure it is the ballasts. Unfortunately for me I don't even have a tank that big . So I'm in the process of taking everything out, updating to electronic ballasts and using this to put in my canopy. My canopy will be custom made along with the stand for only $150 out in Buffalo this summer. I plan on putting both MH bulbs and DIY t5's along with the moonlights. So, for you who hate on craigslist. It's hard to hate on them when you get all of this for only $20!!! My birthday is tomorrow so I just got myself a present!!!

Toss the Odyssea fans.
I to like craigslist, 180 gallon, lights, skimmer, chiller, computer, co2 and a spa pump for $300.

Nice!!! Yeah, the fans are going. I'm just keeping the bulbs, reflectors, and moonlights. I'm purchasing new Actinics, fans, and ballasts.

Craigslist for my local area is pretty garbage lol. No one ever has aquarium stuff, and if they do it's always just huge kits.

Nice. Yeah, those set-ups are great. There are constantly 55 gallon tanks for sale here. It's pretty common.

Yes. I love craigslist too. I've been snapping up tanks for building a fishroom. The last 2 good deals were from "divorce settlements". Just have to know what to look at and be willing to take a look and then walk away.

I buy and sell and also donate stuff on craigslist all the time. Got my 84G with all the goodies on CL for $200. Donate kids clothes to needy people all the time. It is a great place, but also abused. There are crooked people on there too. Buying pitbulls to fight, wanting to adopt kittens to feed to snakes and reptiles.....etc..etc....

I was going to post this as an individual thread, but since one is open already...
the local (Columbus OH) CL general for-sale category has a TON of relatively new aquarium gear, and frankly I think a local store is trying to dump their inventory online. Why else would half-a-dozen or more mid-size tanks show up at the same time, all with fresh-looking trim and backgrounds and NO evidence of ever being used. I'm sorry, but I can't believe that a tank used for any appreciable time will clean as well as the ones showing up there. Anybody else seeing that?

Craigslist is a very good site to find stuff but lately, there have been bad rep about the company but I still use it once in a while. Great job on that tank..

Craig's List
JMO but I have recently discovered that this site has much porno/porno ads. Your mom did a good thing! I will never buy anything from them again. If t hat is their "bad rap" then they deserve it.

Kind of off-topic, but all the posts on Craigslist are put up by people using the craigslist service. Craigslist is just providing a community bulletin board, so to speak. You might as well get mad at your local library for having a community bulletin board by the front door.
I recently bought a 55g tank, stand, glass covers, 1 dual T12 fixture, 1 single T12 fixture, magnum 350 canister filter, airpump, heater, wavemaker, airstones, and a bucket of fishfood for 95 bucks from a lady posting on craigslist.
