Jen's Saltwater Haven: Horrible experience
I recently had a horrible experience with Jen's Saltwater Haven (jensalt.com.) I bought 3 acrylic sumps from them. In my opinion, the sumps were utterly defective and so poorly built as to be unusable. The edges were unfinished, the corners didn't line up, and the seams were unbelievably bad. Even the best seam was full of bubbles, and many were full of large gaps in the glue. In some spots, the gaps went all the way through! After Jensalt refused to refund my money or even acknowledge the problems, I actually broke them up and threw them away.
You can see all the details on my Jensalt sump horror story site.

Thats terrible. I looked at your horror story photos. I must admit being one who has never worked with acrylic I have to say I think I could do no worse.
The only shop I have delt with online for acrylic work has been www.lifereef.com and IMHO they have very high quality products.

I second that opinion wholeheartedly! I have 2 Lifereef overflows, and they are fantastic. Jeff does absolutely first-class work.

Definate kudos to you, I sometimes work for my dad who builds military aircraft windows for the govs, and mainly uses acrylic. I've done a lot of work with it, and those photos almost made me shed tears at such waste of such a great material. Talk about poor business ethics.. can't believe they exist as a business at all!

So, how much were these sumps? I'm guessing you went for the cheapest sump you can find...? usually if you shop online for items like that, you're looking for something cheap. You get what you pay for.
Plus you can make a sump easily and cheaply.

Being someone who has worked with acrylics for years , may I say they are nothing but garbage. I would be embassed to ship them to my worst enemy.

Hey, GB, I just looked at their site out of curiousity. It says that they are

(But the link on their site isn't correct . . . . hmm, wonder why)
Here's the correct link http://www.amdareef.com/
If I were you I'd contact them and show them the pics. Maybe they'll oust jensalt or reprimand them in some way. After the garbage they sent you, I think it's worth the effort.

If you paid by credit card, you should be able to get your money back. I had a problem with some misprinted tickets from ticketmaster. I was fully refunded within 30 days of filling out the form and faxing it in.
