Live Rock Retailers
I just found out, from reading here, that LiveRocks.com had a terrible time last year and isnt taking orders now. (Please correct me if Im wrong) So I was wondering, who would you all recommend as a liverock dealer now?
Im looking to add 50-100lbs of liverock to my tank, depending on the costs.
TIA,
Lux

Also might wanna consider a mix of LR and base/dry rock. Cheaper and in a few months, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
I haven't done any mail order LR becasue I tend to prefer to hand pick my stuff so I can ensure better overall construction in the tank. Even it it costs more. Nothing like getting 60 lbs of fist sized rock that you can't build too well with.
Good luck!

I agree, mix base and LR, a much cheaper solution. Folks have ordered from (I can't remember the URL) tampabayrocks, and liveaquaria.com

I got my LR at tampa bay saltwater. It was loaded with critters and macroalgae and looked awesome. They ship very quickly and very well, and they do sell base rock in addition to two grades of LR (with and without corals, basically). I would highly recommend them. I would also highly recommend doing a high or low salinity dip on all the pieces to evict any unwanted critters; I had several predatory crabs in my 20 lbs of rock!

Moved to Retailers Forum.
I think the two main online retailers are liveaquaria.com and tampabaysaltwater.com.

But I wasnt asking who the main retailers were, I was asking the ppl that buy LR online, who they would recommmed. Before everyone would recommed liverocks.com, now that they arent currently shipping product I was wondering who everyone uses? Its the same as asking about an RO unit or Skimmer, those dont end up here.
Just by the guidelines of this forum, this doenst belong in here, since its not a comment on a live rock retailer.

I believe Devilishturtles was saying, from reading a bunch of posts, these two are the ones that a lot of people have orderd from and would recommend:
liveaquaria.com and tampabaysaltwater.com
HTHs!

That's because Skimmers and RO Units are products, not retailers. I think you will get a more detailed response in this forum, and we like to keep things organized.

After my experience I couldn't agree more. I have been buying pieces at the LFS that are covered in coraline and I can see it first. This is the only way I will buy LR for the rest of my LR days.

Only problem with that is if there aren't any good LR dealers nearby.....when/if i do a larger SW tank I would probably buy most of my rock online and then maybe hand-pick some "showpiece" rocks from a good local LFS. The best SW store around here still has lousy LR.

I just had a great experience with Premium Aquatics (premiumaquatics.com). I got 65 lbs of cured Kaelini Tonga and 15 lbs of cured Marshall Island. Described to them what I was wanting to do, and how big of a tank, and they picked out some pieces that allowed me to do exactly what I was thinking. Rock was great, appeared to have a fair amount of live critters, and was shipped as promised. I chose the airport/airport overnight delivery option via SouthWest airlines as I live about 20 minutes from our airport. That worked out great... ended up with 3 boxes of rocks weighing 90 lbs total, shipped overnight for about $55. You might want to call them rather than doing the online route - that way you can see exactly what they have onhand, and describe any shapes you might want them to look for.

Oops!... I meant the SHIPPING cost me only $55 for overnight airport to airport.
Premium Aquatics doesn't have the cheapest rock in the world, but I can't complain about the quality of the pieces or the service. Well worth it in my opinion.
