Liveaquaria delivery experiences

I've got an fish order coming in tomorrow and was wondering when i could expect the package to arrive (morning/afternoon)? I'm new to ordering fish online.

I paid for the standard overnight shipping which is what they recommended. The tracking number says it'll be here at 3pm. Does that mean it'll be here BY 3pm or around "3pm'ish"? Just curious cause i have a class at 3:30 and am probably going to have to skip it so i can acclimate the fish if they arrive later in the afternoon.

Mine have always said by 3 also. I think that is a standard. I have always called my post office about 9 and they will let me know if they have it or if it should be on the next truck. Always had my fish by noon. If you call them in the morning they should let you know.

Usually means it will be there by 3. Mine normally arrives 10-11 but did come at 3 one time. All depends on your location and how much stuff fed-ex has to deliver that day.

You could have them hold it at fed-ex for pickup and picked it up yourself first thing in the morning but too late for that now. If you are at fed-ex before the trucks go out early in the morning you may have a chance of intercepting it. If they will let you?

You can call and ask them to hold at the facility. Then you can go and pick it up.
Arrival time all depends on where you live and how the driver's route is laid out. I get mine around 2:45 from FedEx and around 10:30am -11:00am from UPS.

If you want them to hold you better call NOW! :P

I never had luck with that unless it was done when shipped. They usually are not willing to go out and try to find your package unless you get the "right" person

Sometimes they will charge you $5+ to hold a package if you are not a box holder. In that case you might be better off upgrading to Priority Overnight for $29.99 considering the time and gas you would spend going to pick it up on top of the holding fee. Also, you have to be careful if you are in a fairly larg city with multiple locations because the central reciever will have to ship to the individual locations wich would create a middle man that you could cut out with a direct ship. I found this out one time I had a my pachage held and actually saw the fedex driver run my community hrs before the holding locations ever recieved it.

pair of firefish, snails, shrimp, misc. inverts. They arrived at 1:30. THey've been acclimating for about an hour so far. On first observations, the firefish are sitting right next to eachother and seem to enjoy eachothers company. One is significantly smaller than the other. I've got my qt tank all ready to go for them, including the top plastic wrapped tight so they can't jump out.

One of the firefish jumped into the GARBAGE DISPOSAL!! I was netting them after acclimation and as i'm walking up to the sink, and start tipping the container to pour into the net, they both jump out of the container and onto the sink. one of them went right into the garbage disposal After about 2-3 minutes (felt like forever) i managed to grab onto his back fin with a set of kitchen tongs. I netted him and put him into qt.

He actually doing fine though after all of that. So far so good surprisingly.

it's my understanding that the 2 firefish i recieved had never seen eachother before i put them in my quarentine tank yesterday due to liveaquaria housing each fish separetly. They've been together for about a day now and they seem to be best buds. One of the fish is significantly smaller than the other so maybe that's part of it. But they have not yet been aggressive towards eachother and actually prefer to sleep and swim next to one another.

But i guess actual mated pairs of firefish come in groups of 3 (1male 2females). I've been told on reef central that the likely hood of these two fish having a long term relationship without killing eachother is next to nothing. So i guess we'll see what happens. The worst thing that could happen would be one dies.

What's the diff. between liveaquaria's $29.99 overnight and the $39.99 priority overnight? Is it worth it?

Thx

Is liveaquaria.com a good place to order from? My wife and I have been considering it, but havent tried it yet.

Has anyone order from saltwaterfish.com?

Thanks,

-TheChad

I've ordered from both. And i've had great experiences with both. The guarantee is much better at liveaquaria.com which makes it a better place to order fish from. Plus, liveaquaria has excellent standards of health for their fish so you know you're getting a very good specimen.

I got my clean up crew form saltwaterfish.com and was impressed with their inverts and prices. They packaged extremely well and almost everything arrived alive. THey gave me store credit for the pistol shrimp that didn't make it.

So the general opinion on this forum is that liveaquaria is great for ordering fish, and saltwaterfish.com is good for ordering inverts.

One thing that bothers me about saltwaterfish.com is they hardly have anything in stock at any given time. THat makes it hard to get everything you want all in one order.
