Thatfishshop.com or thatfishplace.com

Hi y'all,

I am looking for a few fish that I can't find for the life of me at any of the LFS. I am looking for a couple syno. Petricolas and Tropheus Duboisis amongst others. I have narrowed it down to thatfishshop.com and thatfishplace.com... Thatfishshop charges $49 in shipping but their petricolas are about $20 cheaper than anywhere I have seen, and Duboisis are about $10 cheaper... So I will recoup the shipping charges. Thatfishplace.com has free shipping for orders over $150, but that's probably more fish than I can handle. I was thinking of setting up a couple spare tanks and picking up a few more fish to get over that $150... So I had emailed Thatfishplace with questions. Their turnaround time on my email was about 7 days. That scares me, what if I have a problem with my order? If they take 7 days when I don't have a problem, how long will they take when I do have a problem?

Anybody have experience with either of these? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Dog

I am extremly supprised with the turn around on thatfishplace.com aka thatpetplace.com the largest retail store on the east coast for pet supplies. They are by no means a shotty orginization. An example is that they staff biologists.

Their store is about an hours drive from me. FWIW, I've found their prices on dry goods are excellent, but of 16 SW snails I bought only 3-4 survived past two weeks. I've never had a problem w/ inverts before or since then. They also had a tank full of rotting orange Linckia stars the one time I was there. Long story short, I've switched to a new LFS that has better livestock IMO, but I like "That Pet Place" for dry goods.

Here is the number to the retail store. 1-717-299-5691, and the fish room is #7. The managers are typically marine biologist types who are very knowledgeable. I was just there last weekend for their anniversary and the place was packed. I have never ordered from them online, but I wouldn't imagine their service would be much different from my good experiences at the B&M

Although I've never ordered livestock from www.thatpetplace.com I have had good service when ordering supplies online. My orders ship immediately and arrive in good condition.

This is the second time I ordered from thatfishplace.com for live fish. I knew I shouldn't have done it.

But I wanted to get some freshwater fish as a birthday gift for my roommate, and didn't know any other freshwater stores. So anyway I got 5 blue rams, holy crap they were full of ich. They arrived on tuesday, now 2 are dead, 2 are dying, and 1 is still relatively speaking healthy.

Man my first order didn't go too well long time ago, but this one is much worse. I will never order from them again.
