Where should I buy my plants online?

I'm giving a planted aquarium a try (1st timer). But i'm not sure where to buy the plants. My LFS has a limited selection and is a bit of a drive. So I'm thinking … online.

Anyone willing to share their experiences, good or bad, with online plant suppliers?

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Good experience - www.aquariumplants.com (great costumer service, perfect plants, good prices!)

Bad experience - www.aquaticplantdepot.com (VERY bad costumer service, horrible quality, but cheap prices)

personally havent bought any plants online, but a friend has, and he seconds tiffi's experience of aquariumplants.com. bought some plants from them, got them all in good condition, well most of them. they refunded the money he spent on the plants that got there in bad shape. even ordered about $100 more last night here at my house.

aquariumplants.com ( I thought the shipping was a tad high but excellent quality and customer service. Well worth it.)

aquabotanic.com (Robert is very good. You can get hard to find or new to the hobby plants here easy)

freshwateraquariumplants.com (Don is great but a tad busy these days. If you want a package, you may have to e-mail him 2 or 3 times. Excellent also)

aquatic-store.com (Marcus is great also. Selection Varies)

My best method is respected sellers on auabid.com. I get what I want, shipping is usually cheaper and they are more personal.

FYI - aquatic-store.com - Marcus has temporarily stopped selling plants. He if focusing on dry goods for now.

One word: http://www.aquabid.com

One name: lowcoaster

The guy is absolutely brilliant and really puts forth the effort so that you get not only what you asked for but the healthiest plants I've ever seen.

I've ordered from these two:

http://freshwateraquariumplants.com/index.html

http://www.aquariumgarden.com/index.php

On both sites I ordered assorted plant packages for a 20 gallon tank (I have a 29, but I wanted a good variety) The first one allows you to send an email describing your set-up (lights, CO2, fish, etc.) and they send the plants that will do well in your tank, but there weren't very many. The second site just sends a plant assortment, there were tons of plants, but I've lost two because I don't have high light conditions. I guess I should've ordered the low-light package, but it was $5 more, and I'm a cheapskate......oh well, either site is good. I've also heard good things about www.azgardens.com

Really? I had a very good experience with them just this week. Ordered $20 worth of Glosso, it was shipped quickly, arrived in 2-3 days as promised, great packaging, and quality was good.

I was a bit leary at first since there prices are indeed very cheap, but overall it was a good experience and I'd purchase from them again.

Just my 2 cents of course...

Mixed Experience - AzGardens.com - Excellant Plant Quality, Selection, and Prices - Expensive Shipping and Below Average Customer Service
Good Experience - AquariumPlants.com - Good Plant Quality, Selection, Prices, Shipping, and Customer Service

My biggest problem with AzGardens is that you don't know the price of shipping until after your package has shipped. In the future I do not plan on ordering plants from any online retailer that can't/won't provide a reasonable shipping estimate up front. It makes it impossible to compare prices and can turn a good deal into a average or poor deal.

I plan to either order from AquariumPlants.com the next time I order plants online, or to give Lowcoaster a try. All depends on who has the plants that I'm looking for.

I've had a good experience recently with: http://www.aquariumgarden.com/index.php
The plants were packed in wet newspaper in plastic bags and are doing very well. I didn't care for aquaticplantdepot.com The plants were just packed dry in plastic bags and they shipped US Postal Service "Priority" whcih means they didn't get here in any kind of speedy fashion and my two water sprite plants are already dead.

Yepp, really! It took about a week to get my plants (I've paid for fast shipping), more than half of them were dead or they just didn't ship them!! I had to send SEVERAL emails and my husband had to call them 3 times within one month to get them to refund the money. They ignored me at first, then made promises about refunding the money (which took over a months to get it refunded!
It was about the worst online retailer experience I have ever made!

Anyone buy from aquadisestore on ebay? It is really the cheapest saler I can find. Many plants sell for $2.99 or $3.99 plus free shipping. I just gave it a try.

Jchillin has already given you my choice. I've always gotten beautiful plants from Lowcoaster. You can look him up on Aquabid.com
