Building a tank stand

How should I go about building a 5 gallon tank stand? I just need to know how much reinforcement it should have, but any design tips would be nice.

I'm making stands for both of my tanks using this design. It can be changes to fit any size tank, so it's great! Plus this guy is a very trustful aquarist.
