Once every other day. More than that (with the exception of a few special circumstances) is too much IMO

I feed my african cichlids once a day almost every day (about 5 times a week).
I feed the SW fish in my reef tank every 3 days.

I feed my fish 2 times a day but the diet changes and they get frozen food.We split up a cube to feed our fish but they get it in 2 feedings. It appears as if they are hungry when we feed them and they eat all the food we watch is this still too much?

2x per day .. usually a smaller amount in the morning. in the evening, I'll do flakes only 5 days out of the week. The other 2 I add Bloodworms and or Brine Shrimp with Flakes. Usually on Sunday's I add a few peas. Regardless of what I
feed them ... their voracious eaters and clean up everything in under 3 minutes.

1x a day in my tank. I used to do it 2x, but noticed my betta getting a little gut! 1x a day in small amounts is plenty for my guys.
