My plants are growing tall so I'm worried that the plants will touch the heater and burn the the leaves . Is it safe for them to touch ? My heater is set at 80 degrees.

The heater gets a lot warmer than 80° so that it can heat the water to that temperature. Plants are smart, though, so any future growth will be away from it if the plant doesn't like it. The leaf that's already touching, though, you might want to prune off. Or just turn the plant a bit.

You'll get a burn spot if the swords touch the heater but the leaf will carry on.
