I recently purchased a 65 gallon aquarium and filled it up. I decided to boil a rock from outside and put it in the aquarium. When I woke up the next morning there were little white specs all over the aquarium glass. I scrub them all off, but then the next day they all came back like a small fine powder all over the glass. Could it be hard water even though it’s underwater?

What types of additives have you used, ferts or dechlorinator, etc.?
What is the water pH?
I have had a powdery white film, but not specs of white film on glass before. Are you feeding more than the fish are eating? Are there fish?
