Hello,

Just today I have upgraded my 30 gallon as far as plant wise. Replaced the hood that came with the tank to.....: Glo T5 HO 24" 2x24w Linear Fluorescent Lighting system. Added 2-3 more pounds of gravel and more plants.

So far in plants I have: 5 Java ferns (3 big, 2 small), 1 Crypt (Replaced old one), 1 small lutea, 1 anubias nana, 1 anubias gigantica (Please correct me if Im wrong), and 2 unknown plant (I know what they are, just not the names; Ill post pics soon).

Heres some pics

number 2 is definitely a crypt (balansae I think)...

number 3 is I might be wrong, wisteria? or a cabomba?

The third is a type of Rotala, not sure what kind though....
Thanks for the identification of the crypt. :) Mine is the Brown color type though :)

and the brown looks beautiful...adds some variety of colors in your tank and not just green...you know what I mean..

Cryptocoryne retrospiralis and Rotala wallichii, to the best of my knowledge.

I'm no expert by any means but the rotala looks like rotala wallichii (which is a high light plant). Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between some of the crypts when the plant is small..I agree with Dailenne though, looks like balansae.

Looked them up and they look exactly alike the ones I have. Thanks for your help Severum Mama! :)

Thanks, the Crypt, as stated from SM, is Cryptocoryne retrospiralis

oh hehehe I was wrong...I know it was a crypt but was wrong in the balansae part...thanks severum...

I think I was typing the same time as everyone else. lol

Just wanted to add that I have Cryptocoryne retrospiralis in my 37 gal and it has never had quite that color to it. Doesn't mean that's not what you have though.

Crypt aponogetifolia, crypt Balansae/crypt crispatula, and crypt retropiralis, all are very similar with small differences being in the length of the stem, the width of the leaves and slight differences in color. I have both crispatula and retrospiralis.
