Hey,
I just got 5 amazon sword plants, they were on sale for really really cheach. I bought them for my 5gal planted and when i put them in, they were too big, Some of the leaves are sticking above the water, will they shrivel up and die?

Sorry to say this but amazon swords don't belong in a five gallon tank. You think they are big now, you just wait and see. They get really really really big. I would take them out before they root too well otherwise you'll end up tearing out your whole substrate.

Replace them with something smaller like anubias batari nana, java moss, crypt wendtii green or some such.

With the right amount of light and nutrients, it can literally burst your tank at the seams. Tong is correct, see if you can trade them in for some smaller plants. You can also offer them to other members via the classifieds.
