I have some anacharis growing in my tank (first plant to successfully grow ) and it is shooting down all this white roots from the center of the plant going down towards the sand substrate. I assume thats a good sign, but it looks kind of messy. Is it normal for these roots, or "roots" to be coming out of the middle of the plant. Some of the roots stretch three or more inches to get down to the substrate.

Perfectly normal. Generally most people deal with it by planting another shorter plant in front so that you don't see those roots.

its trying to attach its self. any anacharis you toss in the water will send roots down until its able to hold on to something.
