Are my Vals finally shooting runners?

I have been waiting 6mos+ waiting for my Vals to start spreading and shoot out some runners.

Is this finally happening or did some leaves just somehow get caught under the gravel?

Looks like it to me. My spiral vals do just the same, sometimes i see the runner above the gravel, sometimes not.
