Changing Photoperiod

So currently my Photoperiod is at 12 hours, if I change my lighting cycle to 4/4/4 will that destroy my plants?

From what I've heard, plants are not be negatively affected. I'm looking to switch to that cycle after I get a T5HO fixture.

No, there's absolutely no need to run lights for 12 hours anyways... all it'll destroy is the algae that I'm sure you have... or at least prevent any in the event you've got lucky somehow.
