Anyway to control where algae grows, I enjoy the look of rocks with green algae spead about on them. I think it would add to my tank, anyway to control this or am I dreaming?

Also on a side note, I have a tube of RTV standard run of the mill clear silicone. Is this the same stuff that they sell at petstores for a raised price? Is it aquarium safe?

I doubt you can tell algae where to grow.. (unless you remove the rock and use a controlled enviroment to get the look your aiming for, then move the rock back)

as for the silicone.. It must be 100% silicone with no algecides or pesticides. IIRC GE makes one that is for "windows". avoid tub and tile or kitchen and bath types as they always include algecides. (I keep thinking there is something about a II on the tube.)
