I have a planted tank with eco complete substrate and would like to add a school cory catfish. I understand they need soft substrate like sand. But has anyone had experience or opinions about eco complete damaging their barbels/whispher ?

I have Eco and have had no problems that I can see from the ones in there for about 8 months. Some people have added a sandy area in the center of the tank where they feed. Though I understand that one of the biggest issues with Cories is poor water conditions causing degradation in the barbels.

I don't have a sand pit for mine but it might make it more fun for them.

I've kept cories for years in tanks with gravel and similar, no problems at all. I currently have pygmy cories in a tank with Eco Complete.

Six false julii cory in a 10 gallon and I do a 50% water change every week.
