Discus 55 gal planted tanks

Currently in the process of setting up two 55 gal discus tanks and I am looking for some advice for which plants will do well with the high temps. Will be doing both tanks with substrate cable heaters with regular heaters. Can I still do laterite and amazon natural gravel? How deep can I make the gravel beds? First discus tanks but have been researching for a while and opinions vary.
