DIY CO2 Generator?

Hi all!
I want to create a DIY CO2 Generator for my Planted Tank. My Dwarf Hairgrass doesn't seem to be spreading, and my Cabombas are getting stalky, so I thought this might boost growth. Does anyone have a tutorial link to make a good DIY Generator? (Or a cheap buyable one).

Also, what does a CO2 Diffuser do?

I currently have a Soda Bottle, Airating system (Tubing, airstone, etc), yeast, sugar, and water.

DIY CO2 System for Planted Aquarium

cabombas getting stalky i believe has to do with lighting. also with hair grass you trim the leafs by half it helps promote it to spreed and fill in.
