DIY skimmer for HOB filter?

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has made a skimmer intake for a HOB filter before? I’m going to be running a small HOB on my 30 cube and I don’t have the room for a skimmer so I’m looking at making one for the intake.

If you have made one, what did you use and how did you go about it? Looking for ideas and advice!

I have used the Toms surface skimmer and found it worth every penny..
It is good and cheap. It is easily adjustable and can go on canister or HOB.
It will also still draw water from the water column and the surface...
Unless you just want to make one this one is affordable and efficient.
