Quick question here. So I now know that the Anubias rhizome is supposed to above the substrate so that it can get light. Is this an exception or is this true a requirement with most other plants as well?

anubias and plants that can stick to rocks or driftwood like java ferns are the exception. the other plants will grow roots

I see , thanks. so most other plants can be placed with their roots under my gravel ?

most other plants require it lol or they will just float, only some plants can stay rooted above it like crypts, java ferns or anubias

for Anubias, the roots attach the driftwood or rock in the natural environment. so that we should not plant it in the aqua soil. for the other plants that do not need any attachment, you should plant them in the soil and no need to get the light.
