I have a plant in my tank that was doing good but when I woke up this morning I saw that it looks like a horde of locust chowed down on it. Would snails do this? I know I have some (IDK, 10-15 or so) around in my tank hiding.

most snails will eat dead plant mater. what snails do you have? some will eat plants others wont.

I have no idea what kind they are. I will have to find a couple and take some pictures. This was a live plant... hopefully it will make it but I doubt it.

Some fish eat plants as well. I was thinking about getting some type of tetra (I can't remember what kind it was) but after checking it out on several sites I found it would eat my plants. I decided my plants were more important than the tetras and chose bleeding heart tetras instead.
