My red tiger lotus was growing well, and then in the last month it lost all its leaves and now just the bulb (or rhizome or tuber or whatever it is) is just sitting there. Is this normal? Do these plants typically have a resting period? Should I leave it in the tank or is there something else I should do? Tank params have not changed in the past several months.

As far as I know, Nymphaea lotus do not have a dormancy period. I would examine the bulb and the root structure at this point to see if there are any issues. If there is nothing obvious, replant and keep your fingers crossed that it will put out new growth.

Oddly, mine just went to sleep for a couple weeks, too. It didn't lose leaves, but completely stopped growing. It just started off again a couple days ago.

I do snip off the leaves that make a break for the surface in order to keep it more compact....
