I have two 48" T5's on a 55g and I'm curious as to what lighting category this puts me in? I saw one chart that says this is high lighting, but I'm not sure as its only a little over 100 watts and the tank is so tall..

What depth is tank? I would like to say it's in medium to high medium or even high. But the only way to find out is to try some high light plants and see. Are they HO?

I've recently heard that when used with good reflectors, we've underestimated the abilities of T5HOs. They put out crazy PAR per watt and PAR makes plants grow, not total wattage.

I'm with Crepe. The only real way to find out is to experiment.

So I've tried a bunch of different plants for the last two months and everything has been growing fine. I think it qualifies as high lighting.
