i'd like to have a planted tank, but i only have a 10 gallon tank to work with lol
anyway i want to know if there are any plants that won't take over the tank too badly, stay under 8" in height, and don't need a ton of fancy lighting/equipment to mantain? and it wuld be nice if they were easy to obtain too lol

i think my water is on the hard side btw

Jave Fern does really well with low light and Java moss as well. I have had both in fairly hard water with less than 1wpg.

If your tank has a 15 Watt flourescent, you're good to go with low light plants. However if you've got an incadescent fixture, you'll want to replace the incadescent bulbs with screw in compact flourescents. Incadescent lights are pretty useless when it comes to growing aquatic plants.

In addition to the plants Meredith mentioned, Anubias Nana and Anubias Nana Petite are some great options. You could also look at some of the smaller Crypts.
