Have you guys ever seen Echinodorus "red diamond"? link

Does anyone know anything about this plant? Ease of growth, water ideal water condition etc? All I know is from the article in the link.

Secondly, does anyone know where to find this plant? I cannot find anyone in the US selling it.

I am a big fan of red plants. I like to "overdo" them, and I don't like trimming all the time. There are not too many red plants that are not stem plants. This is the only small red sword I know of. Are there any others? (aside from E tenellus "microleaf")

Nice plant Hash, I see why your so interested.
My searches are coming up empty too.
Closest I'm coming to it is Echinodorus rubin.

Thanks for that tip wiz, I'll check with my LFS.

As I understand it, US companies are not allowed to bring in Tropica plants. I'm not really sure why, but it's definately a shame considering all of the nice plants that they provide.

I'm pretty sure I read that was because of the way they package their plants. If you get them from a vendor that isn't Tropica then it is ok. Aquaspotworld has several Tropica varieties for example. I didn't see a Red Diamond in their list though.

Wow, I feel lucky that Tropica is available here. I'll make a mental note about that supplier not being available in the US. (could also be because a lot of the plants sold are on invasive species lists)

its becasue tropica will not ship there plants bare rooted. they have the wool around them and the states wont let the come in that way becuase they might have sonething in them. sometimes canada has some better stuff then the US, not very often but sometimes :)

I cannot begin to tell you how jealous I am.

Thanks for all the suggestions. So far I have tried all of them. Charley (lowcoaster), aquaspotworld, and aquabotanic have emailed me back saying they cannot get it. I found lots of places that sell tropica plants, but none of them are here in the USA.

Is there anyone else who specializes in hard-to-find plants?

There are some other real nice Red Swords if you look around:
Red Devil
Red October

You might try Greenchapter for the Red Diamond or others. I have had some success finding rarer plants, including Tropica varieties, through them.

I bought my Echinodorus "Indian Summer" through them, this has proven to be very nice red plant.
