I would like to know if it is a 'good' thing to plant emersed? I'm thinking about doing a tank that's emeresed for a while and then taking it submersed, or should I just do DIY CO2 and do submersed from the beginning?

Many people who go for the Iwagumi style start out emersed and then flood the tank once the groundcover grows in. The advantage is no algae I think? Plus the plants get even more light since it doesn't have to penetrate the water.

I would only do emersed for certain plants like HC ( dwarf baby tears).

There is a ton of info on this, just Google it. I haven't done emersed set ups but many of my club members do it.
