Have a 50 gallon tank need some help don't know which way to fertilize and how much? Keeping low and med light plants.

Hi Joe...

Low to moderate light plants don't need commercial fertilizers as long as you have a reasonable number of fish in the tank. Just feed them a daily diet of a little flaked, freeze dried and frozen food and change half the tank water weekly. The fish waste dissolves in the tank water and nourishes the plants. The water changes remove the extra dissolved fertilizer the plants don't use and replenishes minerals lost from the water constantly moving through the filter.

Pretty easy.
