fish bowl with live plants

well i was thinking of starting a small fish bowl with no filter and some live plants and probably a betta since they fit best but ive come across the problem... what to do about lighting? if i want it to look really well i want it to be alot of plants so i think ima need some fert but what type of lighting?

Instead of a fish bowl, what about one of thise real small tanks with built-in filter and light hood? They look pretty cool planted and lit up.

ya ive seen those and i was hoping not to spend alot and i think i have an empty fish bowl laying around somewhere around here if i find that then ill think further into this idea
