if i have a planted tank (not too heavy) sould i turn off my airstone during the day and back on at night kinda like if i have a co2 system?

I don't use an airstone on my tanks that I use excel in. I don't find that it needs it I dose the first thing in the morning.

Ya I dont have any airstones either. I dose when I remember too. Think I need to set an alarm for it so I remember more often. lol

Tim, if you are not injecting any CO2 into the tank, you can just leave the air stone on all the time. Without an external source of gaseous CO2, the extra gas exchange created by a turbid surface will keep the CO2 levels at equilibrium. Excel is not CO2, it is a carbon source (provides the same macro element for plant growth, but in a different way).
