I used Gluta back in dental school. It can be quite annoying to the skin if you are sensitive, but if you get in contact with it, you will survive. Good idea to use gloves though.

It's an acquired sensitivity. People that work with glut can develop what's called a type-VI hypersensitivity reaction to it that's not unlike poison ivy. It also an irritant at higher concentrations.

I wouldn't worry about Excel in the tank, and just be careful with the diluted solutions (like Excel), gloves not necessary but do take care not to dump in on yourself or anything.
