Hi everybody,

I'm planning to convert my 5 gallon tank to a dirted tank. I'm looking for a plant below 3 inches tall that will spread around the bottom. I've been considering dwarf hairgrass, dwarf sag, mini baby tears, and micro sword for the bottom.

I'm planning to use a clamp light with a florescent bulb. This will probably eventually hold a betta.

Fast growing would be nice because I'm so impatient. :)

Any suggestions for other plants or experiences with the other plants?

Thanks~

I have a 2.5g Walstad planted with jungle vals and dwarf sag. I don't use ferts and have no artifical light on the tank; the plants grow like crazy!

Looks nice! Does the dwarf sag stay small? How fast did it take to cover that much?

Thanks! The dwarf sag in this tank got to maybe 4" or so. Looking back on progress pics of the tank it was about 2 months to get to this point. I have to trim the jungle vals once a month.

Marsilea minuta

Edit: sorry I just realized you said fast growing so scratch that suggestion. You could try ranalsima rostrata as another option.
