I am growing HC (Hemianthus Callitrichoides) emersed. In 2 months i will start my 40g breeder planted tank with a HC carpet, and i wanted to get my feet wet with emersed growth. i bought 2 pots today at my LFS. I am using 2x7 watt lights on 12 hours a day, eco-complete, plastic wrap over the top with a small hole for gas exchange.

just started will post more pics soon!

I've actually had better luck growing HC floating than emersed when trying to get enough for a carpet.

floating eh? Maybe I'll uproot some of mine and let it join some of the riccia I've got growing. My HC colony has only expanded by about 50% since I got it from you joy. The riccia on the other hand has about quintupled though. hah

hmm floating? like uproot it and let it float at the top?

purpbox did you spray and ferts?

Yup. Just let some trimmings float at the top of the aquarium. While floating they get plenting of carbon from the CO2 levels in the air which are much higher than in water. Plus since I left them in my regular aquarium they also benefitted from my regular dosing. My aquariums are covered with glass canopies so no need for misting.

hmm floating seems like a goood idea! but with pressurized CO2 and 80 watts over aquarium, i bet u can grow anything anyway youd like

Not so. You must keep in mind that 20 watts of that are actinic light, which may or may not be usable by plants. Further the WPG "rule" breaks down on small aquariums like my 10 gallon, so more light is needed to hit the various lighting levels.

Hey guys checking back in on my log. its been 1 month and 1 week, and i think some new pictures are in order!
