I can not believe what just happened to me.

About 2 months ago I aquired a free 29 gallon tank with various accessories. I decided i wanted to try a planted with this one so I've been slowing buying equipment for it for the last month and a half. Got me 3 bags of eco complete, a new fluval 204, new heater, driftwood, ect. ect.
Well thursday I'll finally got my last shipment from big al's a 65 watt light fixture and some ferts for some plants. So i figure its time to go to the pet store now WOOT! I come home from the petstoe with 40 bucks worth of plants and 6 red eye tetras. Walk into the room my tank is in and the MOFO has a huge crack in it. I have no idea how this happened and I'm completely bummed atm LFS is already closed, so i packed everything in my 20 gall for the moment. Guess I'll have to drumm up some more mulah for another tank tommorow. lol murphy's law strike again.

Why would you buy the fish and plants before the tank was even setup?

That's weired! Did you have styrofoam under the tank and a level stand to distribute the weight and tension? Just trying to help so that kind of horror story desn't happen to you again.

awe that totally sucks. Did it have water in it? Im guessing it did since you already brought the fish home. Did it leak?

That is the pits. Can you still salvage the substrate and other items that might have the bacteria still on it so that when the new tank comes in you do not need to start from scratch?

Yeah i salvaged everything my only concern would be if the bacteria survived just sitting in my canister with no fresh water for 12 hours.

As long as there was some water in the canister they should be fine. Sorry to hear about the tank!
