i bought a few pounds of used gravel from a lfs here, and converted my 20gal tall to a planted tank(with beautiful clipping provided by sherry, and some Java Moss that i got from Hara. Thanx to all that helped, and here we go, i have a low light set up, no bells and extras at all. i used screening from my windows to make a blanket of the moss, the holes werent that open but i fig if it didnt start to grow threw soon, then i will have to redo it, and hope i dont kill my moss! i want to go up the back wall when i get enough to make another screen holder, or buy more moss just to make another one.

Just one comment...your ramshorn with the stripe is a Marisa cornuarietis (aka Columbian). That species likes plants. The Planorbidae sp are a better choice. Do I see a shrimp in there too?

looks goof jona, your better of just tieing down the moss to a rock or some driftwood IMO, grows better that way. I like the bottles in there, looks neat.

CAUTION: this is how my planted tank was a first, low tech. Then i got more plants, co2, better dosing stuff, better gravel, higher lighting, more plants, then more plants, then more plants, then more plants. You will be addicted

I am glad you are going planted onah, but i wanted to mention a few things. Like fish you have to research the plants you purchase before you dive in. what i mean is, sherry's plants are mostly medium to high light plants and you have a low light tank.

Not only are they higher light, but they are also difficult to grow.

here are the plants:

Limnophila aromatica
Limnophila 'green'
Micranthemum umbrosum
Tonina sp. 'Belem'
Cabomba palaeformis

You need to look into some low light plants. Just don't get frustrated when those plants don't do well.

sherry stated that i shouldnt have much probs with everything, i wasnt expecting anything to really flurish, the tetras havent touched the plants, the big gourami is eating dead stuff, the ramshorns got taken out right after i started planting the tank(but not before the pics), i have been reading up on everything, i started before they got here, and i have faith in u guys as well, i dont think i will have any prob. they java moss will hopefully start filling out , i was thinking of just putting it down and placing rocks on it, or tieing some down to a rock, but i thought this would help it spread better.
