I forgot to soak my driftwood

I have been using a nice peice of driftwood in my beardies tank for awhile.
I decided to use in with my fish, I plopped it the tank and it's been a few days and no tannins are leeching out.... Why .

It will probably take a few more days or weeks for you to notice any discoloration- or perhaps it was already treated in a way that removed the tannins. If the piece is small and your tank is large, any coloration will take longer and be less noticeable, and vice versa.
