Is it java moss?
If it is then it's a very basic moss to grow. Does not need a lot of light or nutrients to grow

Hard to tell without seeing it growing & not in a bunch but I'd have to agree with Sk3lly..not demanding & easy to care for..if you keep it trimmed back it will grow in thicker..

Yes it is definitely Java moss. It does not have to be tied down and most people just leave it floating because of its growth (imagine someone with long curly hair and having a bad hair day). You can tie it down but you would have to trim often to make it look good.
