It will not hurt the cories. Cories barbels tend to erode because of poor water quality, not course substrate.

I have had six false Julie Corys on Flora-Max for about a year now with no problems.
+1 about the water quality AND keeping substrate clean of gunk. OS.

Corys are pretty resilient, I've housed some with a similiar substrate without a problem. The texture of the subtrate shouldn't be a cause for concern.
